From Black Elk Peak, head south on SD-244. Continue for approximately 2.5 miles until you reach the intersection with US-16. Turn left onto US-16 and drive for about 4 miles. Take the exit for Hill City and continue on SD-87. After about 1 mile, turn right onto Palmer Creek Road. Follow Palmer Creek Road for roughly 2 miles until you reach the Palmer Creek Trailhead parking area, which will be on your left.
