Walking
From Mount Rushmore, exit the monument area and head east on SD-244. Continue walking on SD-244 until you reach the junction with US-16A. Turn left onto US-16A and continue for about 5 miles. After this distance, you will arrive at Keystone, SD. Once in Keystone, continue on US-16A until you reach a stop sign at the intersection with Blair Street. Turn right onto Blair Street, and Big Thunder Gold Mine will be on your left at 604 Blair St.

While there are no direct public transport routes from Mount Rushmore to Big Thunder Gold Mine, you can take a local shuttle service or tour buses that operate in the area.
