Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. Use the GPS coordinates (42.5836034, 0.9704271) to navigate directly to Pic del Portarró. You can park at the Espot or the Pla de l'Àliga parking areas, which usually require a small fee (around €5-€10). From the parking area, follow the signs towards the 'Estany de Sant Maurici' trail that leads to Pic del Portarró. The hike may take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace.

• Public Transportation

  Take a bus from Barcelona or Lleida to Espot. The bus ride takes about 4-5 hours and costs approximately €30-€40 one way. Once you arrive in Espot, you can catch a local shuttle bus (during the summer months) that goes to the park entrance. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance as it may vary. Upon reaching the park entrance, follow the marked trails towards Pic del Portarró, which is about a 2-3 hour hike from there.

• Hiking

  If you are already in the park, the most common route to Pic del Portarró starts at the Estany de Sant Maurici. You can reach this lake from the Pla de l'Àliga area. The trail is well-marked and scenic, providing beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Expect this hike to take about 2-3 hours, depending on your fitness level and how often you stop to take photos. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks.
