Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at the Badajoz Cathedral (Catedral de Badajoz), located at Plaza de la Catedral. From the Cathedral, head south on Calle de la Catedral and continue straight until you reach Plaza de España. At Plaza de España, take a left onto Avenida de Europa. Follow Avenida de Europa until you reach the intersection with Calle de la Estación. Turn right onto Calle de la Estación and walk straight until you reach the bridge over the river (Puente de Palmas). Cross the bridge and continue straight on the other side until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Avenida de la Libertad. Continue walking straight until you see the Puerta de Mérida on your right. The entrance is marked and easily visible.

    From the Badajoz Bus Station (Estación de Autobuses de Badajoz), take the bus number 5 towards 'Los Pinos'. The bus will take you directly to the stop 'Puerta de Mérida'. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Once you get off, the Puerta de Mérida will be a short walk away, just follow the signs indicating the tourist attractions.
