Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, take the AP-7 motorway towards Barcelona. From the AP-7, take exit 29 (Montcada i Reixac) and follow the C-58 road. After approximately 30 km, take the exit towards the BP-1121. Follow the signs for Montserrat, which will lead you to the A-2 and BP-1103 roads. The drive from Barcelona should take about 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. There is a parking lot near the Abbey, but note that there may be a fee (around €6 for the day).

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey via public transportation, start at Plaça Espanya in Barcelona. Take the FGC train line R5 towards Manresa. After about an hour, you will arrive at the Aeri de Montserrat station. From there, take the cable car to Montserrat Abbey. The combined train and cable car ticket costs approximately €25. This journey typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours in total.

    An alternative route is to take the FGC train line R5 from Plaça Espanya in Barcelona to the Monistrol de Montserrat station. From Monistrol, take the funicular railway (Funicular de Sant Joan) directly up to Montserrat Abbey.
