Car
If you are traveling by car, make your way to the town of Camaleño. From the N-621 road, turn onto the road signposted for Teleférico de Fuente, which will lead you directly to the cable car station. The exact address is Teleférico de Fuente, S/N, 39588 Camaleño, Cantabria. There is parking available near the cable car station, but it can fill up quickly during peak season, so arrive early.
Public Transportation
To reach Portal Peak by public transportation, take a bus to Camaleño. There are several bus services that operate from nearby towns such as Potes or Unquera. Once you arrive at the Camaleño bus station, it's a short walk to the Teleférico de Fuente cable car station. Follow the signs towards the cable car, which is located at Teleférico de Fuente, S/N, 39588 Camaleño, Cantabria. Note that the bus schedule may vary, so check local listings in advance.
Cable Car
Once you arrive at the Teleférico de Fuente, you will need to purchase a ticket for the cable car ride to Portal Peak. The ticket prices may vary, so be prepared for costs ranging from €15 to €25 round trip, depending on the season. The cable car operates from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekends and holidays, and from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. It's advisable to check the current status and hours on their official website before your visit.
Walking
After reaching the top via the cable car, you will be at a scenic viewpoint near Portal Peak. To reach the peak itself, prepare for a short hike. The trails are well-marked, but ensure you have appropriate footwear and supplies. The hike can take approximately 30-60 minutes depending on your pace. Always check the weather conditions before starting your hike.
