Unforgettable Family Journey Through Beautiful Sri Lanka

We travelled through Sri Lanka for 21 days with a driver from Nature Caves Sri Lanka, and we look back on this experience with immense gratitude. From the very beginning, we felt we could fully rely on both our driver Rumesh and the company. Months before our trip, we already had smooth and reliable email communication to carefully plan our itinerary together. Rumesh was punctual, dependable, and always thought along with us. We had travelled quite a bit independently in previous years, but as this was our first big adventure together with our children, we were looking for that extra level of comfort and security. We absolutely found that — without losing our sense of freedom. Whenever something needed to be arranged, Rumesh took care of it spontaneously, while always giving us the space to make our own choices and follow our own pace. We had a clear agreement about the total price and were able to pay this in two instalments directly to the driver. After each payment, we immediately received a correct confirmation from the company via WhatsApp. Rumesh speaks excellent English, is very kind (also with our children), and helped us gain a much deeper understanding of Sri Lanka, its people, and its culture. We truly appreciated his flexibility, patience, and solution-oriented attitude. Our youngest daughter has dietary restrictions, and Rumesh spontaneously helped us find safe and suitable food and snack options for her. His presence never felt intrusive — quite the opposite: he was a calm, friendly, and pleasant companion throughout our journey. We deliberately chose a slower-paced itinerary, with more rest days in between, adapted to travelling with children. Both the company and Rumesh understood this perfectly and supported our choices. Overall, we can highly recommend Nature Caves Sri Lanka to anyone who wants to discover this beautiful country in a comfortable, reliable, flexible, and truly personal way. Wilpattu National Park Jeep Safari from Negombo / Waikkal (All Inclusive)

Driver was prompt to pick me up in Colombo and off we went – arrived early at the park and enjoyed a great first half of the safari (the jeep driver was excellent, he spotted animals from any which angle). Lunch was also really good. After that we were off to the second part of the safari. Beware you're booking a full day and that might just get a little tiring after a while but simply sitting back and enjoying the absolutely stunning national park makes that truly worthwhile.

Cook with Wasantha

One of the highlights of our trip

My time in Wasantha's kitchen far exceeded my expectations of a cooking class. It was a full-scale cultural experience with some of the kindest, most knowledgeable people we met on our trip. Within 4 hours we visited fruit and vegetable market, a fish market, and cooked 5 vegetable curries and 1 fish curry. Wasantha even threw in her signature coconut sambol for good measure. We were taken to the market by her husband, Sam, who is a tour guide, so aside from information on the different types of fruit and veg, he shared useful tips on pretty much everything related to Sri Lankan travel. After each of us chose 1 vegetable we wanted to cook - this was particularly appreciated, as we got a chance to try foods not available in our home countries - we returned to the kitchen. Wasantha's patience, clarity of instruction and years of experience led to a pleasant and educational final stretch during which we prepared the meals. We ate the curries together, listening to Wasanta's stories. When my husband returned to pick me up with our daughter, they were both invited to join us for lunch. All recipes - and many others - were later shared with us with an invitation to send in any questions we may have when recreating the meals at home. Overall, this was a stellar experience, which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn more about Sri Lankan cuisine.
