Walking
From Ella Town, start at the Ella Railway Station. Walk east along the Main Street (A23) for about 700 meters until you reach the junction with the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway (A5). Turn left onto the A5 highway and continue straight for approximately 4 kilometers. You will pass by small shops and cafes. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Hakgala Botanical Garden. The entrance will be on your right, just after you pass the Hakgala Temple.

Tuk-tuk
You can hire a tuk-tuk from any point in Ella Town. Simply tell the driver you want to go to Hakgala Botanical Garden. The journey will take around 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will take you along the A23 road to the junction at the A5 highway, where they will turn right onto the highway. You will see the garden entrance on your right shortly after passing Hakgala Temple.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Ella Town. Start at the Ella Railway Station and head east along the Main Street (A23). After about 700 meters, turn left onto the Peradeniya-Badulla-Chenkaladi Highway (A5). Continue on this road for approximately 4 kilometers. Be cautious of the traffic, and look for the signs for Hakgala Botanical Garden on your right. The garden entrance will be right after the Hakgala Temple.
