Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Kandy City Center, head northwest towards the Kandy Lake. Walk along the lake until you reach the Kandy Railway Station. From there, walk towards the Peradeniya Road (A1). Continue straight on A1 for about 1 km until you reach the junction at the Kandy – Peradeniya Road intersection. Turn left onto the Kandy – Peradeniya Road and continue straight for approximately 2.5 km. You will see a sign for Dunumadalawa Forest Reserve on your right. Follow the path leading into the forest reserve.

  • Tuk-tuk

    From any location in Kandy, you can easily hail a tuk-tuk. Just tell the driver you want to go to Dunumadalawa Forest Reserve. The drivers are familiar with the location. It is roughly a 10-15 minute ride depending on traffic. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of the reserve, which is located on the Kandy – Peradeniya Road.

  • Public Bus

    Head to the Kandy Bus Station and look for buses heading towards Peradeniya or Gampola. Board the bus and tell the conductor you want to get off at the Dunumadalawa Forest Reserve stop. The journey will take about 20-30 minutes. Once you get off, walk back a short distance towards the entrance of the forest reserve.
