Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Kandy city center, head towards the Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa). You can start at the Kandy Lake. Walk along the lake towards the temple, and as you approach, you will see the entrance to the temple on your right. Continue past the temple along the path. Keep walking straight until you reach a sign for Udawatta Kele Sanctuary. Follow this path up into the forest area. The entrance to Udawatta Kele will be on your left.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    If you prefer to take a tuk-tuk, you can easily find one near the Kandy city center. Tell the driver to take you to 'Udawatta Kele Sanctuary' or 'Dalada Maligawa', as they will be familiar with these locations. The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the entrance to the sanctuary, where you can begin your exploration.

  • Bicycle

    For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle is a great way to reach Udawatta Kele. Start from Kandy city center and head towards the Temple of the Tooth. After passing the temple, continue following the signs that lead to Udawatta Kele Sanctuary. The road is slightly uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a workout, but the scenery along the way is beautiful. Once you arrive at the entrance, you can park your bicycle outside and enter the sanctuary.
