Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the city center of Kandy, start at the Kandy clock tower. Head north on Dalada Veediya (Temple Road) towards the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth). Continue straight for about 600 meters until you reach the intersection with Sangamitta Mawatha. Turn left onto Sangamitta Mawatha. Walk for approximately 400 meters until you see the Forest Department Office on your right. This is the entrance to Udawatta Kele Sanctuary.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Kandy, you can easily find a tuk-tuk by waving one down or using a ride-hailing app if available. Tell the driver to take you to the Forest Department Office on Sangamitta Mawatha. The ride should take around 10 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Forest Department Office, you will see the entrance to Udawatta Kele Sanctuary nearby.

    If you prefer taking a bus, walk to the main bus station in Kandy. Look for buses heading to the Kandy - Mahaiyawa route. Board the bus and travel for about 10 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Sangamitta Mawatha. From there, walk towards Sangamitta Mawatha, and after a short walk of about 200 meters, you will reach the Forest Department Office, the entrance to Udawatta Kele Sanctuary.
