Car
If you're driving, start from Kandy and take the A26 road towards Matale. After approximately 25 kilometers, turn onto the B40 road towards the Knuckles Mountain Range. Follow the B40 until you reach the village of Meemure. From Meemure, you can park your car at the designated parking area. The hike to Thotupola Peak begins from here and takes around 1.5 hours to complete. Ensure you have a map or GPS for the trail.
Public Transportation
To reach Thotupola using public transport, take a bus from Kandy to Matale. Once in Matale, transfer to a local bus heading towards Meemure. The bus fare is typically around LKR 150-200. Upon arrival in Meemure, you will need to walk to the parking area where the hiking trail begins. It’s advisable to ask locals for directions to the trailhead if you're unsure.
Hiking
From the parking area in Meemure, follow the marked trail to Thotupola Peak. The trail is relatively well-maintained but can be steep in sections. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water. The hike is estimated to take around 1.5 hours to reach the summit, where you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
