Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kandy. Take the A26 road heading towards the Knuckles Mountain Range. After approximately 12 km, turn left onto the M1 road. Continue for about 5 km until you reach the entrance to the Hanthana Mountain Range. Follow the signs leading to the Hanthana Mountain View Point. The journey should take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Parking is available near the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
To reach Hanthana Mountain View Point using public transportation, begin at Kandy Central Bus Station. Look for buses heading towards the Knuckles Mountain Range or the Hanthana area. You can catch a bus that goes to the 'Hanthana' or 'Knuckles' destination, which usually costs around 50 LKR. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Hanthana Mountain View Point. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. After alighting, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the viewpoint.
Hiking
If you are already in the Knuckles Mountain Range and prefer hiking, you can start from the nearby trails. Identify a trailhead that leads towards Hanthana. Most trails are well-marked, but it’s advisable to use a map or a GPS device. Depending on your route, the hike can take from 1 to 2 hours. Ensure you carry enough water and wear appropriate hiking gear.
