Getting There

  • Car

    From Minneriya National Park, exit the park through the main entrance and head west on the A11 road towards Habarana. Continue for about 12 kilometers until you reach the town of Habarana. Once in Habarana, look for signs directing you to Iregwewa. Turn onto the road leading to Iregwewa and drive for approximately 3 kilometers. You will find Gal Oya Eco Park on your right. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there are limited petrol stations in the area.

    To reach Gal Oya Eco Park using public transportation, first, you need to take a local bus from the Minneriya National Park area to Habarana. Buses are frequent and cost around 50 LKR (Sri Lankan Rupees). Once you arrive in Habarana, you can either hire a tuk-tuk or take another local bus heading towards Iregwewa. The tuk-tuk ride will cost approximately 300-500 LKR, depending on your negotiation skills. The destination, Gal Oya Eco Park, will be about 3 kilometers from the center of Habarana.
