Travel Guide to Kiribathgoda Clock Tower

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Galle, take the Southern Expressway (E01) towards Colombo. After approximately 90 km, take the exit toward Kiribathgoda. Once you exit, merge onto the A1 road heading towards Kiribathgoda. Continue on this road for about 10 km until you reach the Kiribathgoda Clock Tower, which is located at the coordinates 6.9782° N, 79.9274° E. Parking is available near the clock tower.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  From Galle, head to the main bus station and board a bus heading to Colombo. Make sure to ask the driver if they stop at Kiribathgoda. The journey will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Disembark at the Kiribathgoda bus stop, which is a short walk from the clock tower. Look for the clock tower as a prominent landmark to guide your navigation.

• Train

  If you prefer traveling by train, take a train from Galle to Colombo Fort Station. Upon arrival at Colombo Fort, exit the station and find the bus terminal nearby. Board a bus heading to Kiribathgoda. After about 30 minutes on the bus, you will arrive at the Kiribathgoda bus stop, from which the clock tower is within walking distance. Note that train tickets vary in price depending on the class of service you choose.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from anywhere in Southern Province. This option is more expensive but offers convenience. Agree on a fare or use a meter if available. The journey from Galle to Kiribathgoda by taxi will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
