Car
If you are traveling by car, take the E6 motorway towards Gothenburg. Exit at Road 168 towards Marstrand and follow the signs to Marstrand. Once in Marstrand, park at one of the designated parking areas, as the fortress is located on an island. From the parking area, you can take a short walk to the ferry dock.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a train from your location in Västergötland to Kungälv. From Kungälv, catch bus line 311 which will take you directly to Marstrand. The bus will drop you off near the ferry dock. From there, take the ferry to Marstrand Island. The ferry service runs regularly, but it's advisable to check the schedule ahead of time.

Once you reach Marstrand Island via the ferry, follow the signs towards Carlstens Fästning. The fortress is about a 15-minute walk from the ferry dock. The path is well-marked, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.
