Walking
Start your journey at the Locarno train station. Exit the station and head east towards Via della Pace. When you reach the intersection, take a left onto Via della Pace. Continue straight until you reach the junction with Via delle Scuole. Turn right onto Via delle Scuole and follow it until you reach the funicular station for the San Salvatore. Take the funicular to the top and enjoy the breathtaking views. From there, walk back to the funicular station and take a short walk to the nearby hiking trails. Follow the signs that lead you down towards the valley until you reach the road that connects to the Old Castle Wall in Bellinzona.

Train
From Locarno train station, purchase a ticket to Bellinzona, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. Once you arrive at Bellinzona station, exit the station and walk straight ahead to Via Mazzini. Continue on Via Mazzini and cross the bridge over the Ticino River. After crossing, turn right onto Salita Castelgrande, which will lead you directly to the Old Castle Wall. Follow the signs as you ascend the path, and you will soon see the historical landmark.

From Locarno, head to the nearest bus stop and take Line 2 or Line 5 towards Bellinzona. The bus journey takes about 30 minutes. Disembark at the Bellinzona stop. From there, walk towards the city center and follow the signs directing you to Salita Castelgrande. This will take you directly to the Old Castle Wall, which is located at Salita Castelgrande 18.
