Getting There

Train
Start at Lugano train station (Stazione di Lugano). Purchase a ticket to Varenna-Esino. Trains to Varenna usually depart every hour. Once you arrive in Varenna after about 40 minutes, exit the train station and follow the signs towards the lake. The Church of St. Peter is located near the waterfront, approximately 10 minutes on foot from the station. Walk along the lakeside promenade (Passeggiata) towards the center of Varenna. The church will be on your left side.

Ferry
From Lugano, head to the ferry terminal (Imbarcadero di Lugano) located near the lakefront. Check the ferry schedule for boats heading to Varenna. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival at the Varenna ferry dock, exit and walk straight towards the town center. The Church of St. Peter is a short 5-10 minute walk from the dock, located uphill from the waterfront area.

You can take a bus from Lugano to Varenna. Start at the Lugano bus terminal (Stazione di Lugano). Look for a bus heading to Varenna or nearby locations. The journey will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Upon arriving in Varenna, follow the signs to the town center. The Church of St. Peter is located about 15 minutes walking distance from the bus station, along the main street leading towards the waterfront.
