From the center of Lugano, head to the main bus station (Stazione Auto di Lugano), which is located near the train station. Take bus number 5 towards 'Cappella' or 'Ghirla' and get off at the 'Ghirla' stop. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs directing you towards Lago di Ghirla, which is a short walk (about 10 minutes).
Train + Bus
From Lugano, take a train from Lugano train station to the nearest station, 'Cascina Roccafranca', which will take about 20 minutes. At Cascina Roccafranca, transfer to bus number 5, heading towards 'Cappella' or 'Ghirla'. Get off at the 'Ghirla' stop, and then walk approximately 10 minutes to Lago di Ghirla.
