Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Zermatt's main train station, exit the station and head towards the main street, Bahnhofstrasse. Walk straight along Bahnhofstrasse, which is the bustling main street lined with shops and cafes. Continue walking for about 10 minutes until you reach the junction with a small square, Postplatz. At Postplatz, take the left turn onto Hinterdorfstrasse. You will find yourself in a charming and picturesque area. Continue walking along Hinterdorfstrasse, which is known for its traditional wooden buildings and historical charm. The street is relatively short, and you will soon reach the end, where you can explore the sights and scenic views.

  From the Matterhorn Museum, which is located at the southern end of Zermatt, head north towards the river. Cross the bridge over the river and turn right, following the riverbank. After a short walk, you will see signs directing you to Hinterdorfstrasse. Follow these signs, and you will soon find yourself on this historic street, surrounded by the beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere.

  If you are near the Gornergrat Railway station, start your walk by heading down the hill towards Zermatt. Once you reach the town, follow the signs to Bahnhofstrasse and continue straight until you reach Postplatz. At Postplatz, turn left onto Hinterdorfstrasse. As you walk, take your time to enjoy the scenic views and the unique architecture of the buildings lining the street. It’s a delightful stroll that will bring you to the heart of Zermatt's historical area.
