If you are traveling by private vehicle, head towards the Ngorongoro Crater entrance gate, located at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The most common access point is the Loduare Gate. From Karatu, take the road towards Ngorongoro, which is well signposted. The drive takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the entrance, you will need to pay an entrance fee. The current fee is approximately $70 per person for international tourists, but please verify this before your trip as prices may change. After paying, follow the signs to the crater descent road and proceed down into the crater.

Public Transportation (Matatu)
Using public transportation is an affordable option. From Karatu, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) towards Ngorongoro Crater. The matatus depart from the central matatu station in Karatu. The fare is usually around 15,000 TZS per person. The journey will take about an hour.
