Getting There

  • Car

    From Tarangire National Park, exit the park and head towards the A104 highway. Continue on the A104 towards Morogoro. After approximately 38 kilometers, you will reach the junction for the B1 highway. Turn left onto the B1 highway, which goes towards Bagamoyo. Follow the B1 for about 75 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Saadani National Park. The entrance to Saadani National Park will be clearly marked. The drive may take around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

  • Public Transportation

    Take a taxi or a shuttle from Tarangire National Park to the nearest town, which is usually Makuyuni. From Makuyuni, you can find local buses heading towards Bagamoyo. Make sure to inform the driver that you need to stop at the Saadani National Park turn-off. Once you reach the B1 highway, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a motorcycle taxi to take you the remaining distance to the park entrance. The entire journey may take around 4-5 hours and costs will vary depending on the transportation methods you choose.

  • Combination of Car and Boat

    Drive from Tarangire National Park to the B1 highway as previously described. Once you reach the turn-off for Saadani National Park, you can arrange for a boat transfer if you prefer to enter the park via the Wami River. This would require pre-booking a boat service as it's not always available on demand. Expect to spend around 3-4 hours total, including the boat ride, and additional costs will apply for the boat service.
