Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Stone Town, head east on the A1 road towards Chukwani. After approximately 5 km, take a left onto the B2 road towards Bububu. Continue on this road for about 10 km until you reach the Bububu ferry terminal. Here you will need to park your car and purchase a ferry ticket to Nyange Island. The ferry typically operates several times a day, but it’s advisable to check the schedule in advance.

  • Public Transportation (Dala Dala)

    From Stone Town, you can take a Dala Dala (local minibus) towards Bububu. These minibuses leave from the main Dala Dala station in Stone Town. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Bububu ferry terminal. The fare is very economical, usually between TZS 500 to TZS 1,000. Once you arrive at Bububu, you will need to buy a ferry ticket for the crossing to Nyange Island. Be aware that the Dala Dala can be crowded, so travel light if possible.
