Getting There

    From the center of Zanzibar City, head towards the Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe) as your starting point. Once you reach the Old Fort, follow the signs leading to the beach. Continue walking along the coast, taking in the views until you reach the ferry terminal. From there, you can take a local daladala (shared minibus) towards Nungwi, which will drop you off near Kendwa Beach. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle from vendors in the area and ride along the scenic coastal road to Kendwa Beach.

  • Public Transport (Daladala)

    From the Darajani Market, look for daladala that are heading towards Nungwi or Kendwa. These daladalas are usually marked with signs or you can ask locals for assistance. The ride takes about 30 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. Make sure to inform the driver that you want to get off at Kendwa Beach. Once you arrive at the Kendwa area, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to the beach.

  • Bicycle Rental

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Stone Town. Head north following the coast road through Nungwi. It’s about a 50-minute ride, and you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Look for signs pointing towards Kendwa Beach once you reach Nungwi. The beach is easily accessible and the ride is mostly flat.
