Getting There

• Public Bus

  First, head to the nearest bus stop in The Woodlands. You can catch the Montgomery County Public Transit (MCPT) bus service. Look for the route that services The Woodlands and heads towards Houston. Make sure to check the schedule for the next bus. Get off at the last stop in Houston that connects to the METRO service. From there, transfer to the METRO Rail (Red Line) towards the Fannin South Station. Ride the train until you reach the 'Main St. Square' stop. After exiting the train, walk to the bus stop for the 102 bus towards La Porte. This bus will take you closer to the San Jacinto Battleground. The closest stop is at Independence Parkway. From there, it’s a short walk to the site, located at 3523 Independence Pkwy, La Porte, TX 77571.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental stations in The Woodlands. Start by heading south on the Woodlands Waterway, following the trail towards the south exit of The Woodlands. Continue on the bike paths until you reach the intersection with TX-105. Carefully navigate across to join the bike lanes on TX-105 heading east. This will take you towards La Porte. Follow the road signs directing you to Independence Parkway. Once you reach Independence Parkway, follow it until you see the entrance to San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site.

  For a more direct route, consider using a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. Open the app and set your destination to 'San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site, 3523 Independence Pkwy, La Porte, TX 77571'. The driver will pick you up from your location in The Woodlands and take you directly to the historic site. It's approximately a 30-40 minute drive, depending on traffic. This option is convenient and will save you time navigating public transportation.
