Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from your location in the Marmara Region and head towards Istanbul. Use a GPS navigation system and enter the address: Cankurtaran, Kennedy Cad. No:151, 34122 Fatih/İstanbul. The Ahırkapı Fog Horn and Lighthouse is located near the coastal area, so follow signs leading to the historical Sultanahmet area. There is limited parking available nearby, so be prepared to search for street parking or use parking lots in the vicinity. Note that parking fees may apply.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the Ahırkapı Fog Horn and Lighthouse using public transportation, first, make your way to a central transportation hub in Istanbul, such as Taksim Square or Sultanahmet. From Taksim, you can take the funicular to Kabataş and then transfer to the tram (T1 line) towards Bağcılar. Get off at the Sultanahmet stop. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the lighthouse. Head towards the coast, and follow Kennedy Avenue until you reach the lighthouse. Be aware that tram fares are approximately 15 TL per ride.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider taking a taxi. You can easily hail a taxi from anywhere in the Marmara Region. Simply provide the driver with the address: Cankurtaran, Kennedy Cad. No:151, 34122 Fatih/İstanbul. Taxi fares may vary based on your starting location, but expect to pay around 100-150 TL from central Istanbul locations. Taxis are a convenient option if you prefer not to navigate public transportation.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Sultanahmet area, the Ahırkapı Fog Horn and Lighthouse is easily accessible by foot. From the Sultanahmet Square, walk towards the coast along the historic streets. It is about a 15-20 minute walk. Follow the signs towards Kennedy Avenue, and enjoy the scenic views along the Bosphorus before arriving at the lighthouse. This option is free and allows you to experience the local atmosphere.
