Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Acholi, start your journey by taking the Gulu-Kampala road (A1). Continue on this road for approximately 300 km until you reach Kampala. Once you are in Kampala, follow signs for Jinja Road, then take the turn onto Naalya-Namugongo Road. The shrine is located along this road. Look for the prominent sign indicating 'Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine' which will direct you to the entrance.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To use public transportation, head to the nearest bus station in Acholi and take a bus heading to Kampala. Buses frequently depart, and the fare is typically around 20,000 UGX ($5 USD). Upon arrival at the Kampala bus terminal, look for a taxi or boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you to Namugongo. Inform the driver that you want to go to the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine. The fare for the taxi or boda boda should be around 10,000 to 15,000 UGX ($3-$4 USD).

• Public Transportation (Boda Boda from Kampala)

  If you are already in Kampala and prefer a quicker option, you can take a boda boda directly from your location to the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine. Just ensure that you negotiate the fare beforehand, which should be around 15,000-20,000 UGX ($4-$5 USD) depending on distance. The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

• Walking (from Taxi Drop-off)

  If you arrive by taxi or boda boda, you may need to walk a short distance to the shrine if dropped off away from the main entrance. Follow the signs directing you to the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine. The shrine is easily accessible on foot once you are in the vicinity.
