Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from your accommodation in the Ssese Islands. Make your way to the main ferry landing at Bukakata, which is located on the mainland of Uganda. The drive to the ferry terminal may take around 30 minutes depending on your location. Once you arrive at Bukakata, you can take a ferry to Ngamba Island, which is approximately a 30-minute crossing. Ensure to check the ferry schedule in advance, as departures may vary. The ferry fare is typically around UGX 20,000 per person.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, head to the nearest bus or taxi park in the Ssese Islands. You will need to take a taxi or a shared minibus to Bukakata ferry landing. This journey should take about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Bukakata, purchase your ferry ticket for Ngamba Island, costing around UGX 20,000 per person. After your ferry ride, you will arrive directly at Ngamba Island, where the Tented Camp is located.

• Boat Transfer

  If you prefer a more direct route and are staying in Entebbe or nearby, you can arrange for a private boat transfer to Ngamba Island. This option provides a scenic view of Lake Victoria and can take approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending on the speed of the boat. Prices generally range from UGX 200,000 to UGX 300,000 for a private transfer, so make sure to negotiate and confirm the price before departure.
