Getting There

    If you're traveling by car from the town of Mbale, which is the closest major city to Mount Elgon, head north on the Mbale-Soroti Road (A109). After about 12 kilometers, turn left onto the Budadiri Road. Continue on this road for approximately 17 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Mount Elgon National Park. There is an entrance fee of around 30,000 UGX per person for foreigners. Make sure to pay the fee at the park gate before proceeding.

  • Public Transportation (Matatu)

    To reach Mount Elgon via public transport, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) from Mbale town. Go to the main taxi park and look for a matatu heading to Budadiri or Sironko.
