This part of the journey will take around 4-5 hours, depending on your pace. Keep an eye out for local transport options like boda bodas (motorcycle taxis) if you want to shorten your walk.

From Gulu town, locate a boda boda stage, which is usually near the bus park or main market. Inform the rider that you want to go to Aruu Falls. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes as you travel along Gulu-Kitgum Road. The boda boda will take you to the closest point to the falls, and you may need to walk the last few meters to reach the falls.

From Gulu town, go to the bus park and find a matatu heading to Kitgum. Make sure to confirm with the conductor that they will drop you off near Aruu Falls. The ride will take about 1 hour, and you might need to walk a short distance from the drop-off point to the falls. Be aware that matatus can be crowded, so be prepared for a lively journey!
