    From the center of Gulu, start at the Gulu Main Market. Head south on Acoli Road towards the junction with the Gulu-Kampala Road (also known as the Juba Road). Walk for about 15 minutes until you reach the junction. At the junction, turn left onto the Gulu-Kampala Road. Continue walking for approximately 25 minutes, passing several local shops and eateries. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards Fort Lugard. After around 25 minutes, you will reach a small roundabout; take the second exit to remain on the Gulu-Kampala Road. Walk for another 10 minutes, and you will see the entrance to Fort Lugard on your right. The fort's distinct architecture is a good landmark.

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Gulu Main Market. Cycle south along Acoli Road until you reach the junction with the Gulu-Kampala Road. Turn left onto the Gulu-Kampala Road. This route is approximately 3 km long and will take around 15-20 minutes depending on your cycling speed. Along the way, you will pass local shops and can enjoy the scenery. After reaching the roundabout, continue straight on the Gulu-Kampala Road for a few more minutes until you see Fort Lugard on your right. Ensure to use a helmet and follow local traffic rules.

    To take a boda boda (motorcycle taxi), go to the nearest boda boda stage, which is often found near the Gulu Main Market. Inform the rider that you wish to go to Fort Lugard. The journey will take about 10-15 minutes. Make sure you negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 2,000 to 5,000 Ugandan Shillings. The rider will take you directly to Fort Lugard, and it's a fast and inexpensive way to reach your destination.
