Experience Itanda Falls

Getting There

  • Bicycle

    Start at the center of Jinja, near the Source of the Nile. Head southeast on Main Street towards the Nile. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at the end of Main Street. Take the first exit onto Jinja-Kamuli Road (also known as the Jinja-Bujagali Road) and continue for about 4 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Itanda Falls. After passing Bujagali Falls, take a left onto Lubanyi Road. Follow Lubanyi Road for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Itanda Falls. The route is mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.

  • Walking

    From the center of Jinja, walk towards the Source of the Nile. Continue along Main Street until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Jinja-Kamuli Road. Walk along this road for about 4 kilometers, being careful of traffic. Look for signs for Itanda Falls. Once you see the sign, take the left onto Lubanyi Road and proceed for about 2 kilometers on foot until you reach Itanda Falls. The walk will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes.

  • Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)

    If you prefer a faster option, you can take a motorbike taxi (boda boda) from any location in Jinja. Ask the driver to take you to Itanda Falls via Lubanyi Road. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the fare before you start your journey. The driver will drop you off at the entrance to Itanda Falls.

  • Public Transport (Matatu)

    From the center of Jinja, locate the matatu stage near the main market. Look for a matatu heading towards Kamuli or Bujagali. Board the matatu and ask the conductor to drop you off at the junction for Lubanyi Road. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes. Once you get off, walk down Lubanyi Road for about 2 kilometers to reach the entrance of Itanda Falls.
