Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Lira, which is the main hub in Lango. From Lira, take the Gulu Road (A1) and drive for approximately 50 km. Look for signs indicating the turnoff to Ajai Wildlife Reserve, which is near the village of Ipife. The exact location is marked as V78M+M8. Make sure to keep your GPS or a reliable map handy, as the roads can be tricky. Upon reaching the reserve, there may be a small entrance fee which could range from UGX 10,000 to UGX 20,000 per person.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a taxi (shared minibus) from Lira to Gulu. Once you reach Gulu, find a taxi heading towards the village of Ipife. Inform the driver you wish to visit Ajai Wildlife Reserve, and they should be able to drop you off close to the entrance. Be prepared to pay a fare of approximately UGX 10,000 to UGX 15,000 for the taxi ride from Gulu to Ipife. Upon arrival, you will likely need to pay an entrance fee to access the reserve.
Bicycle or Motorcycle Hire
For a more adventurous route, you can hire a bicycle or motorcycle from Lira to explore the area. This option gives you the flexibility to stop and enjoy the scenery along the way. From Lira, follow the same route towards Gulu, then take the turnoff towards Ajai Wildlife Reserve. Ensure you have some basic tools and a map, as well as a small amount of cash for any potential entrance fees once you reach the reserve.
