If you are traveling by car within Mount Elgon National Park, start from the park headquarters located in Budadiri. From there, drive along the main park road, following the signs towards the Sunset Viewpoint. The drive is approximately 30 minutes. Upon approaching the viewpoint, you will need to park at the designated area and walk the final few meters to reach the viewpoint.

To reach the Sunset Viewpoint using public transportation, first take a matatu (shared taxi) from Mbale to Budadiri, which usually takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Budadiri, you will need to hire a local motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to take you to the viewpoint. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should cost around 10,000 Ugandan Shillings. The journey on the boda-boda will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and you will be dropped off at the parking area where you’ll need to walk a short distance to the viewpoint.
