Car
If you are starting from the main entrance of Mount Elgon National Park, drive towards the park headquarters located in Budadiri. Follow the signs leading towards the Wagagai summit trailhead. The road may become rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Once you reach the trailhead, park your vehicle in the designated area. The hike to Wagagai summit begins here and is approximately a 4-6 hour trek depending on your fitness level.

From Mbale town, take a matatu (shared taxi) to Budadiri, which is the nearest town to Mount Elgon National Park. The fare is typically around 2,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Budadiri, you can hire a local guide or join a guided group to the Wagagai summit. The guide will assist you in navigating the trails and ensuring your safety. The hike from the trailhead to Wagagai summit will take approximately 4-6 hours.
