Car
From Gulu Town, head south on the Gulu-Kampala Road (A1). Drive for approximately 168 kilometers until you reach Fort Portal. Once in Fort Portal, follow the signs to the town center. The Lugard Monument is located at M73F+5R9, which is near the main square. Parking is available nearby, but be cautious of local parking regulations.
Public Transportation (Bus)
Catch a bus from Gulu Town to Fort Portal. Buses depart regularly throughout the day from the main bus terminal in Gulu. The trip typically takes about 4-5 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Fort Portal, you can either walk or take a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to the Lugard Monument, which is roughly 1 kilometer from the bus station. Expect to pay about 1,000-2,000 UGX for the boda-boda ride.
Boda-Boda
If you are already in Fort Portal, you can easily hire a boda-boda to take you to the Lugard Monument. Simply tell the driver your destination, and it should cost around 1,000-3,000 UGX depending on your starting point in Fort Portal. The ride will likely take less than 10 minutes.
