Car
If you are driving from any location within Teso, first head towards Soroti town. From Soroti, take the A1 road towards Kampala. Continue on the A1 for approximately 150 kilometers. As you approach Kampala, keep an eye out for the signs directing you to the Central Division. Once you reach the outskirts of Kampala, follow the signs for 'Kampala Central.' Fort Lugard is located at 8H89+F5P, which you can enter into your GPS for precise directions. Parking may be available nearby, but ensure to check local signage for parking restrictions.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Fort Lugard using public transportation, start by locating a bus station in Teso, such as the Soroti Bus Terminal. Board a bus heading to Kampala; the journey may take around 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic. The fare typically ranges from UGX 20,000 to UGX 30,000. Upon arrival at the Kampala Bus Terminal, you can either walk or take a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to Fort Lugard. If walking, head towards the Central Division area (approximately 2 kilometers), or if you prefer a boda-boda, the cost will be around UGX 5,000 to UGX 10,000.

If you are already in Kampala and prefer a quicker option, you can hire a boda-boda to take you to Fort Lugard. Simply tell the driver the location (8H89+F5P, Kampala) and negotiate the fare, which should be around UGX 5,000 to UGX 10,000 depending on your starting point. Ensure you wear a helmet, as it is required by law.
