Car
If you are driving, head towards the village of Craighouse in Isle of Jura. From Craighouse, take the A846 road towards the mainland. Continue on this road until you reach the ferry terminal at Port Askaig. Here, you will need to take the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Kennacraig on the mainland. The ferry ride typically takes about 30 minutes and costs around £15 for a car and driver. Once you arrive at Kennacraig, follow the signs for Lochgilphead along the A83. After approximately 30 minutes, you will reach Lochgilphead. Castle Sween is located just outside Lochgilphead; continue on the A816 towards Oban for about 3 miles, and you will see signs for Castle Sween.

If you prefer to use public transportation, start from Craighouse and take a bus to Port Askaig. This bus service is operated by Jura Transport and runs infrequently, so check the schedule beforehand. Once at Port Askaig, take the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Kennacraig on the mainland. From Kennacraig, you can catch a bus to Lochgilphead. The bus journey from Kennacraig to Lochgilphead typically takes around 30 minutes. Once in Lochgilphead, Castle Sween is approximately 3 miles away. You may need to take a taxi or walk along the A816 towards Oban to reach Castle Sween.
