Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
A historic Leeds landmark with a fascinating time ball legacy, blending Victorian architecture with city-centre life on Briggate.
Standing proudly on Briggate in central Leeds, the Time Ball Buildings are a striking Grade II listed Victorian complex with a fascinating maritime past. Once home to Dyson’s, a company that built its own time ball linked to Greenwich, this elegant brick and stone structure played a role in synchronising time for navigation. Today, it’s a handsome city-centre landmark, blending historic architecture with modern retail and office use, and remains a subtle nod to Leeds’ industrial and scientific heritage.
