Getting There

  • Car

    From Llandudno, head southwest on the A546 towards Conwy. Merge onto the A55 motorway heading towards Bangor. After approximately 10 miles, take the exit towards A5 and continue onto A5. Follow the signs for Betws-y-Coed. Continue on the A5 for about 7 miles, then take a left onto the A4086 towards Llanberis. After around 3 miles, you will reach the Ogwen Valley. Look for a car park on your left called 'Ogwen Cottage', which is a good starting point for your hike to Llyn Idwal. Note that parking fees may apply, typically around £5 for the day.

    From Llandudno, take the Arriva Trains Wales service from Llandudno train station to Bangor station. This journey takes about 30 minutes. Once at Bangor, you can catch the number 85 bus towards Caernarfon, which will take you to the Ogwen Cottage stop. The bus journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
