A Historic Canvas in Richmond’s Heart

One Paved Court occupies a narrow pedestrian lane off Richmond Green, housed in a Grade II listed early Georgian building dating from between 1690 and 1720. Originally a shop house with a layered history including use as a surgical appliance maker’s home and a carpet shop, the building was sensitively transformed in 2017 by Allies and Morrison architects. The restoration preserved much of the original fabric, revealing hidden features such as a half-timber-and-brick party wall, while adapting the space for its new role as an artist-run gallery and studio.

An Artist-Led Hub for Contemporary Expression

Since its establishment as an artist-led space, One Paved Court has hosted a varied and innovative programme of exhibitions featuring both emerging talents and internationally recognised artists. The gallery’s exhibitions rotate regularly, showcasing works across multiple media including sculpture, painting, installation, and printmaking.
