From Newcastle Central Station, take the Tyne and Wear Metro service towards South Shields. Board the metro at platform 1 and travel for approximately 30 minutes. Disembark at South Shields Metro Station.

Upon exiting South Shields Metro Station, turn right onto King Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto Ocean Road. Continue on Ocean Road until you reach the junction with Baring Street. Turn left onto Baring Street and walk for about 10 minutes. Arbeia, South Shields Roman Fort will be on your left at Baring St, South Shields NE33 2BB.

Bus
From Newcastle upon Tyne, you can also take a bus to South Shields. Head to Eldon Square Bus Station and take the 'X34' or 'X35' bus towards South Shields. The journey takes about 40 minutes. Get off at the South Shields Town Centre stop. From there, follow the same walking directions as mentioned above.
