Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car from Kirkwall, head northwest on the A965, then take the A966 towards Orphir. Continue on the A966 until you reach the A9. Merge onto the A9 and follow the signs for Thurso. After approximately 90 miles, you will reach Dunnet. Once in Dunnet, follow signs for Dunnet Head. The scenic point is located at Dunnet Head, Dunnet, Thurso KW14 8XS. There are no tolls on this route.

  • Public Transportation

    From Kirkwall, take the Stagecoach bus service (number 80 or 81) towards Thurso. The bus ride will take approximately 2.5 hours. Get off at the Thurso bus station. From Thurso, you can catch a local bus (number 5) that goes to Dunnet. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest times. The bus fare from Kirkwall to Thurso is around £10-£15, and the fare from Thurso to Dunnet is approximately £3-£5.
