Getting There

Walking
If you are in the center of Khiva, start at the main entrance of the Itchan Kala (the walled inner city). Walk towards the West gate, known as the 'Tashkent Gate'. As you exit through the gate, you will see a large open square in front of you. Proceed straight through the square, heading towards the Islam Khodja Madrasa, which is easily recognizable by its tall minaret. The minaret is the tallest structure in Khiva, standing at 57 meters, and its distinctive blue tiles are visible from afar. You can follow the path that leads directly towards the madrasa, and the minaret will be on your left side.

From the Kunya-Ark Citadel, exit through the main gate. As you step outside, turn left and walk down the main street, which will lead you towards the Islam Khodja Madrasa. Keep walking straight for about 10 minutes. The minaret will be visible as you get closer, and you should head towards it directly. As you approach, you will see the entrance to the madrasa, where you can also access the base of the minaret.
