Walking
From the main exit of the Vatican Museums, head towards the entrance of St. Peter's Square. Exit the Vatican Museums and walk straight ahead towards the colonnades of St. Peter's Basilica. Once you reach the square, turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. Continue on this road until you reach the Tiber River. Cross the river using the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge, which will offer a beautiful view of the castle and the river. After crossing the bridge, continue straight until you reach Via di San Lorenzo in Lucina, then take a right. Follow this road until you reach Largo di Villa Peretti, where the National Roman Museum - Palazzo Massimo is located. The walk should take approximately 25-30 minutes.

From the Vatican Museums, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located at Piazza San Pietro. Take the bus number 40 or 64 towards Termini. After about 10 minutes, get off at the 'Termini' stop. From the Termini station, exit and walk towards Via Cavour. Turn left onto Via Cavour and continue until you reach Largo di Villa Peretti, where the National Roman Museum - Palazzo Massimo is located. This journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes in total.
