To get to the Hermitage Museum & Gardens from downtown Chesapeake, head to the nearest bus stop on the corner of Cedar Rd and Battlefield Blvd. Take the Route 45 bus towards Norfolk. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the stop at Granby St & 38th St. From there, transfer to the Route 20 bus, which will take you directly to the Hermitage Museum & Gardens. Get off at the stop on N Shore Rd, and the museum will be a short walk from there.

If you prefer biking, start from the Chesapeake City Park and head north on Battlefield Blvd. Continue on Battlefield Blvd until you reach the intersection with Virginia Beach Blvd. Turn left and follow Virginia Beach Blvd to the I-64 overpass. After crossing, continue straight onto N Shore Rd. The Hermitage Museum & Gardens will be on your left at 7637 N Shore Rd. This route is approximately 10 miles and takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your biking speed.
