    From the center of Chesapeake, head to the nearest bus stop for the HRT (Hampton Roads Transit) bus service. You can take the Route 1 bus towards Norfolk. After a 30-minute ride, get off at the Granby Street and 36th St stop. From there, walk north on Granby Street for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Virginia Zoo at 3500 Granby St. The zoo will be on your left.

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike rental service in Chesapeake. Start by heading north towards the Elizabeth River Trail. Follow the trail along the river until you reach Norfolk. Once you arrive in Norfolk, continue on the trail until you reach Granby Street. Turn left onto Granby Street and bike north for about 1 mile until you reach the Virginia Zoo located at 3500 Granby St on your left.

  • Walking

    If you are in central Chesapeake, you can walk to the Virginia Zoo. Start by heading east towards the nearest major road. Follow the signs to Granby Street and walk north for about 2.5 miles. As you approach the zoo, you will see signs directing you to the entrance at 3500 Granby St. The walk should take approximately 50 minutes.
