Walking
Starting from the Fredericksburg Visitor Center located at 706 Caroline St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, exit the building and head south on Caroline Street toward William Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with George Street. Turn left onto George Street. Follow George Street until you reach the intersection with Sunken Road. Turn right onto Sunken Road. Continue walking along Sunken Road for about half a mile. You will soon see the Kirkland Monument on your left, situated in the Sunken Road area of the Fredericksburg battlefield.

Public Transportation
From the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, walk to the nearest bus stop located at the corner of Caroline and William Streets. Board the bus heading south on Route 1. Get off at the stop closest to Sunken Road (check local transit maps for the exact stop as it may vary). After disembarking, walk north along Sunken Road for about 0.3 miles, and you will arrive at the Kirkland Monument, which will be on your right.

If you have access to a bike, start at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center at 706 Caroline St. Head south on Caroline Street and turn left onto William Street. Continue until you reach George Street and take another left. As you bike down George Street, keep an eye out for the intersection with Sunken Road. Turn right onto Sunken Road and ride for approximately half a mile. The Kirkland Monument will be on your left side as you approach.
