    If you are starting from downtown Fredericksburg, head east on William Street towards the intersection with Charles Street. Turn left onto Charles Street and continue walking for about 0.5 miles. You will pass several shops and restaurants along the way. The Mary Washington House will be on your right at 1200 Charles St. Look for the historical markers along the way which indicate significant points of interest.

    From the Fredericksburg VRE Station, exit the station and head towards the bus stop located at the corner of Lafayette Blvd and Princess Anne St. Take the FRED bus, Route 3 (Orange Line), towards the VRE Station and get off at the Charles Street stop.
