If you are starting from the Fredericksburg Visitor Center located at 706 Caroline St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401, exit the Visitor Center and head south on Caroline St toward William St. Continue for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Washington Ave. Turn right onto Washington Ave and walk for approximately 0.5 miles. The Mary Washington Monument will be on your left at 1500 Washington Ave. Look for the tall obelisk and the surrounding park area.

From the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, walk to the nearest bus stop located at the corner of Caroline St and William St. Board the 'Fredericksburg Area Bus' (FAB) Route 1 heading towards the 'Mary Washington Hospital'. Stay on the bus for about 5 stops (approximately 10 minutes) and get off at the 'Mary Washington Monument' stop. The monument will be just a short walk from the bus stop, located at 1500 Washington Ave.
